Question for Bill Wasson...

First off, hope you are doing well.

Can you tell me specifically what type of line the "swordfish" line that I've gotten from you in the past? I need to make some new long lines and I cannot find it online. Do you have a source?

Thanks,
Steve McCullough

Steve,
I never used Bill's line but I am guessing from the posts I have seen on it that this is what it is.

Longline Ropes:

Everson Aqualine Plus/Baiterline
Top
1800 feet per coil.
Size, Lay, Wt/lbs. ,Tensile Model#
7/32" Firm tar 28 1590 EVR10001

It might be 1\4 inch but that is huge rope.

I use #72 tarred nylon twine and it has never broken.

But the hard thicker stuff lays nice in a barrel or bucket.

Steve,

Unfortunately I've let the labels on my spools deteriorate past the readable point. The best I can make out is that it's a polyester braid / Black Item#4499 Sample #622. I was lucky enough to get 2 spools so I haven't needed to go looking for it again. However if you find a supplier let me know cause you really can never have too much rope or line.

Bob, the line is what I had the GE's and Buffies rigged on. It's definitely not tarred, but a sinking soft braid that does a great job resisting tangles.

Good luck,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Hope you are doing well.

It is a polyester braid around a solid poly core. That is the kicker. Everything that I found online, doesn't have the core, or I don't know what I am looking for. That line is perfect for what I want to do this year, because it doesn't have any memory.

Best,
Steve
