Ok all I have a question? As my new decoy line seems to be taking off I like to ask you all question. In the works I have a Canvasback almost done and have started to carve an old squaw/harli and a surf/black scoter. Witch one would you all like to see first in the sea duck line? I have a lot of orders and to many mold plugs started. being the only guy in the shop has me running around like a chicken with out his head.

Also what would you like to see next in the Puddle duck line and how many of you guys like to see some brant made? I am going to make it all just trying to set up the line up for what should molded next.

any other suggestions would be great.

love the decoys-

seaduck- Eiders- and much oversized if possible- puddle ducks- can you do standing field- or mud decoys? blacks- mallards- and what about woodies?

Great Job!!!!!

Squaws and Brant are two of my favorite decoys. Plus there is definately a place in the market for them. Although a relatively small market. I like the idea of a black duck on a stick also.

Best wishes with your endevour!!

of your talents than expending them on Scoters......now to qualify that let me say that I hunt Socters, enjoy the heck out of it, and appreciate the "realism" of "authentic" Scoter decoys....having stated that other than getting an accurate head/bill and a decent body shape there's not muich of a challenge there for someone of your talents....

Your paint is so stellar that, to me, it would seem to be a a waste of that talent to spend the tie to paint what is basically a BLACK bird.....

ME? I'd like to see a WIGEON.....and a FULL BODY Wigeon would be even neater.....then a Black Bellied Whistling Duck.....then a Fulvous....then a Mottled Duck.....then a Brant......then all the other sruff and then when you are old and tired and out of everything else, the Scoter.....

If thats not enough then I'll state economics...I'd "guess" there are more Scoter hunters than Whistling Duck hunters...BUT how many people are going to spend $30.00 a bird on Scoters, (don't forget this is the group of ducks that "without fail" elicits a comment of "you can decoy those dumb things with black chlorox bottles" whenever a discussion of Scoter decoys comes up.... ever here that said about Wigeon, or Whistling Ducks? Ever seea field decoy made out of a spray painted cholrox bottle?

So my vote is Wigeon, Whistiling Ducks, Brant and Full bodies of same afterr that.....save the Scoters for waaayyyyy down the line.....

I'll third the Wigeon. I just wasted time plucking two Mallards only to discover they had been eating clams. Thought I could distinguish that from the color of the breast. The Wigeon that I brought home were nice and fat though. Nice yellow fat.(No clams in the diet) I thought about making some Dekes in that bird but was quick to decide that "Some one out there must make a decent decoy that captures the beauty of of those birds. Got to love the white stripe coming at you.

If you decide on the Wigeon put me down for a half dozen to start.

Do not hunt the salt. Would love to see a wigeon and a gadwall. Full body wigeon way cool.
