Pre-session nap for Moose

Decided it was time for Moose to try a real bird. I don't want to spoil him with real birds, but he is always checking out my bird pen and probably thinks he would be a good match for my eastern turkeys :P haha, keep dreaming Moosie...

Anyways, I got one of the gentlest, fattest quail I have, and showed him to Moose, and that was all it took. Moose went from lap dog to thunder-beast in a split second.

Bird planted on the edge of some wild grass while Moose was tied up and couldn't see. I put the bird in a deep hole in the grass so he was impossible to see and went and got da Moose so we could work the field. I did coax him a bit in the right direction, but when we got in the right area, this is the result:

I gently walked around so Moose didn't think I was going to steal his bird, picked it up and chucked it into the field. Too much for the dog, as he broke, picked up the bird and brought him to me. :)

You have to be one proud guy! Love that form that Moose possesses. Makes him look like an instant professional. Jon, did he get a treat?

I was so happy he brought me the bird. We've been having trouble with dummy retreives. Almost like he knows its not a real thing.

The treat I gave him is lots of love :) That, and I let him hold the bird while we walked around the yard. Bird was put back in the pen unharmed.

Great to know what a nice soft mouth he already has. By the way, Jon, that treat is a dandy!

Love it when the lightbulb goes on in their head.

Not much better than watching the puppy get "it" IMO

Moose is well on his way...Congrats and enjoy the journey Jon

Awesome! He looks nice on point. I imagine the pride factor was was pretty high right about then.
Thanks for the puppy training fix.
