Quote of the day from my eight year old.

So my eight year old son has taken interest in helping to prepare meals now and tonight we were making meatloaf. He is up to his wrists in meat mixing it all together in a bowl and turns to me and asks if this meat is from the one he tracked down. I tell him no its from the grocery store and his reply...

"Meat always tastes better when you tracking the it down yourself"

Seriously you cant make this stuff up.

He is talking about the doe I arrowed in the late season. He went on the track with me the next morning. I thought it would be easy but she went 3/4 mile in a cedar swamp before dieing. He did a heck of a job on that track and recovery I was a proud Dad.

That's great stuff there! My wife hates it when our 6 year old son wants to hear the story behind whats on the table for dinner. "Is this the one..."

I run a trap line in the winter and when my son was younger he held up a piece of duck on the end of his fork and asked "What is this we're eating beaver?" My wife and I just laughed and said nope duck. His response "Well its really good".

I am told you can eat beaver but I have never tried it. I use it for bait and feed it to the dogs and no I am not going to make any jokes this is a family site..

Great quotes from your son! It's nice when they want to know where their meal came from.

I occasionally cook beaver in the crockpot with BBQ sauce. My three young boys like it. Well this spring my 4 year old tells our day care lady and her husband that he had beaver for dinner last night. They thought it was a joke. It was hard for me to explain it to them with a straight face.

Brandon it is good, you should try cooking some up.
