Raka Epoxy Quantities

Any guess as to the quantity of Raka Epoxy, fillers & catalyst needed to build a stitch & glue hull the approximate size of a 12" BBII?
I'm almost ready to order and need to make it fit the monthly budget. I can figure the square foot of cloth and biax tape. Any special tools you would order from Raka for the job? I will document the build of "Teal" with pics. It's a hull of my design, a consensus of the many fine hulls I've observed here, in the marsh with Ray, and of my own special needs. John Robinson was kind enough to put my drawings on cad to make the build easier for me. Thanks to you John and Ray.

Based on stitch-n-glue and 12' I'd guestimate 6 gallons but it can vary quite a bit by the size of your fillets and cloth weight and square footage.

Jesse... my fillets were too big. When you are building your boat, develop the fillets according to the widely published fillet dimensions... I built mine oversized and I didn't need to so I used more epoxy than required.

Good luck.

If this is your first boat, get more than you think you'll need. Pretty easy to estimate the cloth and tape part of your requirements but the resin/catalyst is a little tougher. I think the specs for the BB3 call for 9 gallons of epoxy (combination of resin and catalyst). I used a 9 gallon kit and ran out and had to get another three gallon kit. OR get a 6 gallon kit and see how it goes, you can always get more. Nice thing about epoxy is it doesn't go bad. I just mixed some up last week for a buddies project that had been sitting around for close to 4 years and it was still good.

Good luck and have fun.

Thanks to all.
I'll go for the 9 gallon batch to start with. I have built one other hull with epoxy, but not a stitch and glue type. What is the best thickener for the fillets, wood flower, microballoons?

Use wood flour as a primary thickener and also have some cabosil for those occasions when you might want a smoother, thickened mix. They both have their uses and I've even mixed them to get what I want. You can get both wood flour and cabosil from RAKA.
