The treasures & beauty of nature that some are called to find, and show to the world.

That is a WOW!

Two thumbs way up Mr. Dave.

Best regards
Vince

First of all, can a log be reclaimed wood? Reclaimed from who? Ma nature?!?!

That looks like a pretty good bowl, minus the rotten spots and chips. Can you imagine the hassle I'd get posting up work like that?!?! Geeze. ;).

Beautiful bowl Dave. That's a nice piece of wood with character. Not sure I would have bothered, good job seeing the potential. Goes to show it doesn't have to be perfect and symmetrical to be desirable.

Yes, I can imagine your posts getting hassled. [ninja]

The "defects" hide the mistakes, duh.

:).

In the wood turning world is there an issue with people cutting burls in the dark of the night? I have a couple that I've had my eye on that seem like they would be pretty sweet.

Tod,

I can't speak for others, but I'm just too scared of getting caught to consider it. I will say I have not heard any reports of that happening. There is a dead "leaner" in the same area which has a promising burl. Trouble would be getting to it, as the burl is still twenty feet up the trunk. Hard to be stealthy when you're broadcasting your location with a gas powered chain saw.

Get a battery powered saw.

Can you recommend one that uses the same batteries as my "spinner "? 😎

[size 4 ] Pretty good find, Dave..... and it took a good turner to get the most out of it. Beautiful ( as usual).

I have an Ego battery powered chainsaw. Works as good, no, make that better, than any gas saw i used to own. I'm not a lumberjack so for hardcore chainsaw users, your mileage may vary
