Recommendations on a shooting toy?

I know a lot of you guys have kids so I am hoping for a little direction.


I'd like to get my 4 year old a pump or double barrel toy shotgun. Specifically something that shoots a foam projectile so he can hit his target rather than just pretend. With a 2 year old little brother, I think airsoft is out of the question for now. Any recommendations are welcome as there are lots of options and very mixed reviews on all of them.
 
Zombie killing Nerf guns are a big hit with our kids and their cousins. They are not traditional looking but the foam darts are cheap and safe. Just make sure the kids wear glasses or sun glasses when playing cowboys and Indians.
 
Hank, X2 on the Nerf guns. They come in a hundred different styles and actions. My boys play with them like crazy, and no ones been seriously hurt. There are several off brands which seem to jam up more frequently. I think Nerf is the way to go. Good Luck, Jeff
