Rigging Blue Bill Decoys?

I'll add a note about my previous post. Charlie mentioned that putting them in the bottom of the boat is a mess, and he is right. I forgot to mention that I use very short droppers on those line because of doing this. With the short droppers (3-4") they stay managable. I don't hunt with a dog or run my boat through the lines (even when using longer droppers). I hunt tidal areas and rivers and the current can pull the lines near the surface even on longer droppers. You have to find a method that works for you. I've found it would probably be cheaper to buy the longlines premade than to make them and have left over material. I still make my own because I prefer to make as much of my own equipment as possible, whatever makes you happy. There are more calander days available for messing with gear than there are for hunting, why not enjoy the gear as well.

Good hunting!

I like to make my own Long lines. I use the tarred nylon from memphis net company. The main is 1/4 inch and the drops are about 1/8 inch. I tie the drops on the main line then use brass swivels from cabelas between drops and decoys. I use bigger brass clips on the ends for the anchor. My drops are about 24 inches long and 9 or 10 feet apart. I keep some in slotted bags and others in the Drake style bags. I do keep everything rigged together when I store my decoys.
