Here's the story guys:
Had a push on a charter due to an illness so my buddy/mate Pepi & I headed out. Up till this point we've been doing nothing but trophy tree duck/mottled duck hunts with our clients & haven't targeted the divers.
We decided to hunt this one particular area, but up until this point had stayed away from it due to it being as total ZOO!!!
The fog was as thick as pea soup & if you tried to turn on your headlight, it was an instant whiteout.
We saw other boats nav lights cutting through the fog & knew we had to made a decision.
We were sitting on clean hydrilla so it was kinda like "hold what you got!!!"
We checked the water depth & it was above our waders. Since we only brought (1) one layout, I let Pepi go first & I backed off a couple hundred yards in a cut-through in a levee.
Just prior to shooting time, the birds were practically taking the top of my cage off so I decided to blind up the airboat & do a little pass shooting.
Several times while making my weekly hunting & fishing reports to the radio stations, I had to tell them to "hold on" while I shot.
Needless to say, after (45) forty-five minutes we limited out.
Went over & picked up Pepi then the birds.
As we picked up, there she was, feet up, wearing jewelry.
Not a bad start!!!
