RUBBER VICTOR DECOY REPAIR?

I obtained a few old Victor D 100 rubber decoys. I am wanting to paint them and use them this duck season but I noticed several leak air around the values. Some worse than others. My question is does anyone have any experience fixing this type of decoy/valve. I believe they are quite old, maybe 1950's or 60's but still quite durable and appear to have some use left in them.victor rubber d100.jpgvictor d100 air valve.jpg

Well it turns out the decoys leaks were not in the valves. I am glad because I guess nobody knows how to fix them either. I found some pin holes in the keels that slowly leak down and one had a pin hole in the beak. It is amazing to me how tough these old decoys are. I am guessing they have to be 50 years old? Does anybody use any to hunt over?

Well now you are ready to use them.

I had/have some similar but more rounded I think and no texture on the surface. Used when given to me 20-30 years ago. I think they have all been ruined by being stored in a shop attic and turned hard?

Brad, If they will still hold air and do not have dry rot you may be able to salvage them. Some of mine were somewhat hard but seemed to soften up with use and handling. Small leaks can be fixed with your favorite rubber patch. I used magic patch and it is sticking good to them. Once I got them to hold air they got more pliable.
