Hey Duane,

Still in the hospital. They've moved me to a different room where I can pick up wireless on my iPhone, so at least I can spend some time on the site.

I woke up on Monday 1/19 with a swollen arm which was also turning a different color. I went to work thinking I had just slept on it or something and it would be fine.It continued to get worse and was going numb. Called my primary Dr. And made an appt to see her that morning. To shorten the story a bit, before noon I was admitted to the hospital with a DVT (deep vein thrumbosis) blood clot. It was about 6" long coming out of my neck and running down into my right shoulder. Since monday I've been on blood thinners, had catheters with high pressure water jets and angioplasty. I still have a small amount of the clot left which they believe my body will disolve on it's own. I'm supposed to go home today and in two weeks I come back in. They are going to remove my first rib where the vein is getting pinched between bone and muscle which is what allowed the clot to form.

This has been a very scary experience. On Thursday there was concern I had another clot in my kidney. I've basically had a full body scan and analysis, including my prostate, which I think the ordered just for the fun of it. Everything else is cheching out ok.

I was bummed to miss the carving session and even more the tour of the club. Maybe next time. Take care bud.

Wow, Ryan, that's scary. DVT's are nothing to mess around with, you are one lucky guy. Glad it's working out for you.

Thanks Pete. There are big risks with a dvt including stroke and pulmonary embolisim. I hope those risks are out of the picture now.

Hey, did you get down to hunt with the Carlyle Boy's?

No, Carlyle froze up the day I was to go down. We knew it in advance because the forecast was calling for almost no wind and zero or below temps. One of these years.

Really glad you are on the mend.

Holy Makerel, Ryan!!

Good to hear the doctors are on it. Keep doin' what they tell you to do, and keep us posted.

I think some of Pete's "Duck in a Roux" would clear everything right up!

I hope it wasn't the Ganzer/Garvey blackened duck that you ate 3lbs of at the MLB hunt! Take it serious and do what the doctors tell you to do. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Thank you all. I really appreciate the thoughts and well wishes. Things like this really make you take stock of what's important in life. Since I was in ICU for the last week my 2yr old son couldn't even come up to see me. Just got home and boy is it great to be with the family again..

Thanks again.

Bummer to hear about your trip Pete. Always next season...

Wow......Ryan....I haven't been around much the past few weeks and decided to catch up. Glad o hear the situation is positive. Glad your home and back with the family.

Take care,

Ed L.

Ryan, you better heal up quick. Westlake will be here before you know it and there is beer to be consumed!

I hear ya Ira. Bummer is, I'll be on blood thinners for at least 6mths after the surgery. Maybe I can skip my pill for that day and just thin it out with beer...
