Sad yet happy day at the McCann household

Sorry to hear about your trusty companion. I hope you don't blame yourself.

For what it's worth, I grew up with a three-legged mutt. She got hit by a car when she was four or five years old. Vet said "leg or dog" My parents went the "leg" route. Amazingly, I don't think she missed a beat. Animals don't seem to comprehend the same as we do. They just adjust and move on.

I'll bet, when he's all healed up, he'll be just fine.

Good luck,

Jon

O man, poor Jack. I'm so glad you guys went and found him. He'll be ok on three legs I guess. Just really glad you got him back.

Mike

Well I'm glad you got him back and he is going to be around the house after that ordeal. Had to be an emotional roller coaster the past few days.
Get well soon Jack.

Sorry to hear about Jack. Not a pleasant thing to go through at all...Hope for a speedy recovery......

Dave,
What a shock that had to be when you first saw him. Thank goodness, he'll be coming home! Best of luck.

Wow, Sorry to hear of such a terrible injury, but the great news that he he will be alright is wonderful.
A good retirement life at home sounds good to me. Im glad you got your boy back.

I know how you feel Dave...I lost Shah twice, and the anxiety is almost too much to bear. I would be relieved as you are despite the injury. And I have a good idea how it happened as well. I’ve seen that many years ago during my tramps in Iowa. You are very lucky Dave, and so is your sidekick. I pray for quick healing.

BTW, you'll remember our hunt in Pool 9. Czar my old Springer was happy to be in the boat with us. He started having seizures when he was 3 years old so at the time we hunted, he hadn't been for a swim in about 8 years. He was perfectly fine being the hand warmer in the boat, and always was ready to go. He lived 13 happy years.

Dave so sorry to hear about your lab, but he will improve over time. He will be right at the front door everytime he sees you grab your gear.

Dave, so sorry about Jack. However, he has earned his ride in the boat and you will welcome him by your side to talk to in those early mornings. Some of the greatest problems in the world have been solved sitting there talking to your dog! Trip.

That's a bummer. Hope Jack heals and adapts to that lost foot quickly. Being at home will help.

Wow Dave,
What a stressful deal. It's amazing how resilient dogs are - the look on his face doesn't show much stress whatsoever.

I hope he can still do some hunting this fall.

Best wishes for Jack's strong recovery.

I can't imagine what you and Jack have been through in the last few days! My heart goes out to both of you and I hope you both have a speedy recovery and are sharing boat rides soon.
