Justin McDaniel at the NRA has produced a very well researched article on Sandhill Crane Hunting and there may be some of our forum members who may be able to assist getting Sandhill Crane hunting in your state. Here is the URL for the article. I am pleased Justin was able to use my hunt in January as a catalyst for this article. http://www.nrahuntersrights.org/Article.aspx?id=4701

I had a conversation yesterday about this with one of my patients who is one of the nine commissioners for KY Fish and Wildlife. The Feds gave approval for 800 birds, but KY decided to keep it conservative at 400. When the season was proposed, the "birders" out of Louisville cried wolf. As of right now, there are no plans to proceed with a season. The reason for not proceeding right now is so that the antis don't push for state legislation to protect the cranes.

It will be interesting to see if the sportsmen and women of KY will let their voices be heard on this.

Best,
Steve
