Arrived safely last night and after a good sleep we scouted half the day. We shot a gorgeous slough this afternoon and managed a good assortment of ducks. At the end of it all we were treated to an amazing sunset. View attachment IMG_1275.JPG
Leaving on Thursday (1450 miles North), we will be chasing the birds on Saturday in Saskatchewan (around Imperial & Simson). Looks like the weather is getting cool.
They do have some great sunsets and sunrises. Be safe and enjoy you time in the promise land.
We are east of Yorkton. Hard frost two nights ago and right on freezing last night. Not a lot of birds yet but it has started. I'm lucky... just a 9 hour drive to my friends house.
Thanks for the photo's of my Home Away From Home for many seasons. We would always arrive around Sept. 22-23rd and watch the Big Show build. Coming back to the rat race was always unpleasant. Can't wait to return.
Jason's dog is 17 months old and this is his first season. He is a small lab and he did a great job for us but really struggled with some of the giant Canada geese. It was almost comical watching him try to drag in a bird that weighed over half his weight. What a way to start his career. View attachment IMG_1281.JPG
It is very dry. Sloughs that have held water for years are completely dry. Most are down at least a couple of feet. Birds are concentrating in fields near water and the patterns are different this year. We are seeing a lot fewer BW teal but everything else is looking ok.
