Here is anouther question I had running in my mind about scarfing.

If I needed to scarf join to sheets together length wise to make the bottom of a boat would it work strength wise?

To make sure my question is understood the scarf would run down the middle of the bottom of boat from bow to transom.

According to what i have read the scarf joint is stronger than the actual wood its self.

What are you planning on building?

Im going to build a duckhunter and a croc from the gatorboats plans, but that question doesnt imply to them because they both fit in the width of a single sheet of ply.

Just was wondering if down the road if I was to build a wider boat with a flat bottom could I build the bottom with scarf joint length wise, and would it be strong enough running the length of the bottom from bow to transom.

This is not a scarf it is more of a butt joint, it is epoxied filleted then covered with 3 layers of fiberglass and epoxy.
Runs the length of the boat.
