Scarfing....

How do you scarf panels with a table saw Tod? I'm with you Phil, scarfing is my absolute least favorite part of building!

Extend your fence a foot higher, or so, and brace it good. Clamp a board on your plywood to run on the top of the fence (so the cut edge can't drop into the blade). With blade angled appropriately run the wood through. This requires the plywood to be on edge 8' up, but it really is easy. I did it by myself (a helper would be nice though)and would never do it any other way. I've used a sander, used a plane, and they work fine, but the table saw was so fast and easy. If people were not worried about balancing a sheet of wood on edge, everyone would do it that way.

I think I have pics.

It isn't like scarfing is hard, this way was just fast and brainless for me (and resulted in perfect scarfs).

That's a nice clean cut, if I'd known about that I might have gone that route. I tried the power planer but didn't feel comfortable, so I did the belt sander method. I lost more sleep worrying about scarfing than any other step in the construction. It was needless worry as it's actually quite easy. It's wonderful when you're done and have 15'+ lengths of marine plywood.

Right, I hate to make a big deal about it because all options are easy. A fat stack of scarfs cut with a belt sander is a nice accomplishment when you get it done - just a lot of dust and messing I don't need, but easy still.
