HI THERE!
LOOKING FOR SOME CHATTER FROM SCULLERS OLD AND NEW.
Hoping to see that we might have gained a sculler or 2 in the last couple seasons.
Any chatter out there from scullers and duck hunter would be well appreciated.
As posted many times I'm now 77 and have been doing this gig for the well over 60plus season and would love to hear in any for about your sculling or sneak boat ways of hunting.
Picked up this jewel made by Wade Delashmutt a long time ago. a shop teacher when I was in High school and a Humboldt sculler and builder.
My two original Nellist were sold this last fall and now moving on looking for a few old Humboldt bay sculls to repair and use to get the fell of the many different scull boats.
1st pic is the new Delashmutt picked up and refurbished and 2nd pic is my two very old Nellist sculls which were built in the late 30's.
If anyone remembers my write ups those Nellist were given too me in the year of 63 at the ripe young age of 15-16 yr old.
The second Nellist Original and a sister too my long time Nellist came to me in the 80's.
These boats not only rare boats but 2 of the best scull on the market today.
kept in excellent condition and time to let some young hunters enjoy what i have all these decades of the finest duck and goose hunts any one man has or had the chance to have.
These 2 boats are in the hands of 2 young hunters who are learning and will enjoy the best of what those boats will give.
My sculling days are shortened but not given up by any means and repairing any of these older boats is a dedication I owe the builders of late and knew.
hoping to see some of these young hunters getting into what I have had from these sculls for many decades with hopefully more to come under slightly slower pace than earlier in life.
with that I'd very much enjoy the chat about these boats or duck and goose hunting in general.
Thank you and good Day!

hey Mike, I am trying to get into the skulling game, but the cool weather has put an end to doing fiberglass repair work on the boat I picked up. I have yet to put it in the water to see if it even floats. I need to figure out the proper location and size for the oar hole as my boat has never had one. My only assumption is that the prior owners skulled the illegal way with a trolling motor. I "think" it should be an inch or two above the waterline on the boat and about a 3" hole, is that correct? Also wondering what I need to do to reinforce the hole so the oar doesnt damage the fiberglass.

I think I will start work on a 2nd oar next time I can get to the shop as the first one has too small of a blade. Following the other skulling thread on here, I am assuming it will be about 10' long (6' handle, 4' blade, with a 10 degree bend)

My wave scull has a 3in hole for the oar and I just have a piece of pvc pipe glued in i can send pics of it when I get off work. Where are you located, if you have questions here's my number 541-294-0065
