Sea ducks

Well after many years of waiting , I did it and it was worth all the hard work and research. Though we did not kill any birds it was one of the most exciting day of hunting I ever had . We set up early afternoon with 4 longlines and two 3 bird groups on the sides of the main spread , it worked .The old squaws were the first to show themselves and then it was white wing scoters. Unfortunately the old squaws were buzzing us on the edges of the dekes , they seemed like something was not perfect to totally commit . Boy oh boy I felt like I was on my first date in highschool ,excited to say the least. I wont lie, my barrel is bent !!What can I say duck hunting is addictive .......... and sea ducks ........ now Im a junkie, I need another fix!! .

Brian,
you have found yourself among folks just as you might be.

It is a thrill to see the birds
they may skirt you for a while

but you will figure it all out
we are optimists here

there is good stuff waiting just around the bend

(that goes for you old farts and curmudgeons equally.)

Welcome to the club. I hope you blew em up. It looks good for me to get out for the next 3 days, There is a zillion of the here in Montauk right now. Today we did a double on the Windy, Bass fishing is becoming a gring , But it was a constant stream of Scoter and Eider flying past us all day. Some of the flocks of Scoter had 1000 birds and better

You'll get 'em Brian! My first year chasing them I was the same way. Birds everywhere, couldn't hit a thing :) Once I got the first one it started to click. My last trip out last season I got 6 with 7 shells. I doubt I'll ever top that!

It's VERY addictive, hehehe...

To much of a NE heave. Were talking close to 6 days. I'm not dieing for a duck. Plannning on this Sat. If not off to the Cape to send them west south west to Jack .Then if we sould ever get a west wind to lay down this sea I know he would do the same for me. Send them to exit 58
