Seal Skinz Gloves

Just wondering if anyone has used these, and how they feel about them. I like thin gloves, I wear a nice pair of Avery early season gloves, year round. I don't care for thick gloves and when its really cold I just keep my hands in my pockets. Only problem lies in when I P/U the decoys my hands get wet, so I would like a thin pair of waterproof gloves. Cabelas new glove line stinks and I can't find a replacement for my old Avery's. Saw them and thought I would ask. Thank you for your time.

I have several pair that I use strictly for putting or pulling dekes. for that they are great. Otherwise, not so much. My hands tend to be swimming in sweat with them in very short order. Then they get chilled and so on. etc. I have very small hands and due to some incidents in my yoot they are very cold sensitive The system I've found that best balances dexterity/shootability with warmth is 1rst a pair of military surplus olive drab wool liner gloves. Over them I put a pair of camo skins gripper dot gloves. no insulation, just the strtchy ones. the combo works well and I can keep a couple sets in my blind bag for 30 bucks. Not water proof but few gloves really are any way.

Edit note, Camo skinz are a different product than seal skinz and are in no way similer. they're mostly spandex. and mulling it over saying that seal skinz are great for decoy setting is probably something of an overstatement.

I feel the same way, I don't like gloves and usually use half gloves when I need a little warmth EXCEPT when I need to be warm and dry I have found one glove that has beaten every other one I ever used. Everybody I hunt with now has the same gloves.

They are made by Atlas glove and are the same ones you see on TV that the crab fisherman wear and they are BLUE. You can get them at Seattle Marine http://www.seattlemarine.net/...0&idproduct=1785 for about $16 plus shipping. Atlas Model 495.

They are ok for camo on your hands, I own a couple of pairs but they aren't waterproof and they aren't warm. They keep the wind off your hands but they really don't have any insulation. My hands actually get colder in them cause they retain water moisture inside.

Mine worked good for about two hunts and then started LEAKING BADLY. I'd never recommend a pair of them. They were a waste of money.

I'm with you Pete.I like the orange (thinner rubber) ones better. I was introduced to them while in Maine
by a guide. I only use them for set-up and pick-up or if my hands get real cold. Otherwise I don't wear any
gloves. Stash them in your waders and they stay warm for the end of the day.

I am a member of the Brigade at the suggestion of someone here years ago. By the way Pete, Fleet Farm has them too. I only use them in decoy pick up time. NEVER to hunt with, but they work.

As far as the Seal Skinz, useless gloves unless you like wet, cold, clammy fingers in about 1 hour. If you are down south they may work, but up here in a layout, they suck.

If you dig in my bag, you will find about 6-8 pairs of gloves, with at least 3-4 of them in zip lock bags. once they are wet, next pair comes out. Keep doing this until the hunt is over and then out comes Big Blue to save the day...

I didn't know FF had them - good to know in case mine get lost. I agree, I never hunt with them but when I have to either pick up decoys or run along distance in cold weather the blue gloves are on. I might get an extra pair of liners this year just in case. I also have several pairs of gloves in ziplocs in my bag.

I tried several pairs of neoprene gloves and never got more than a season out of them. My blue gloves are on season 4 or 5 so far and show no sign of giving up.

They are POS. I have one left of the pair of gauntlet length I bought when they first came out. It's sitting in the top of a closet as a reminder not to waste money on stupid gloves.

Get stuff that commercial fishermen wear. Rubber is waterproof, everything else is a waste.

You can get them thick, thin, and in all sizes. I have orange ones that are very similar to the popular blue ones. I always use them to put out the decoys when it's cold, then I put them in my neoprene waders against my stomach. They stay warm, and are ready for work when the day ends.

Otherwise I wear a thin spandex pair that bass pro sells for $6-8. I have about 3 pairs and as they get wet I change them. When it's cold enough I break out the military wool liner gloves. Again, I'll have a few pairs on hand. Wool stays pretty warm when it's wet so that's a plus.

Don't get the seal skinz or any other miracle fabric gloves. They're a waste.

Thanks everyone! Mission accomplished, see now I know and I did not have to find out the hard way, this of course contradicts everything else that I do. See you on the water, just call me papa smurf.....

I tried the avery and FA deke neopreno gloves the darn things have to small of sleeve extension so you have to take off you coat to use them ,well i fixed that i cut offf the sleeve now they get water in them ,oh well,

then i had to get my waders repaired well i found a great guy local 60 miles away he makes skin divers suits and diver suits etc his name is GIM what a nice guy real helpfull and he fixed my waders ,[he let them out for my fat belley to breathe]lol but he said hey try these gloves ,there divers gloves, real good price to

so this year i will try them the difference is they are tight to your arm

his company is ABYSS

man he can fix anything neoprene he even altered Daisy`s vest to fit her perfect..he makes waders to just like getting a dive suit made for you its fits exactly pricey but the workmanship is awesome.500canadian for wader garunteed not to ever leak ,his seems are sealed like in a dive suit not the tape kind from retail stores..

anyway i hope to use his gloves this week coming..during the opener ill let ya know how they work and later on in the ice and snow...

To pick up decoys I use insulated rubber gloves - not hard to find them at most any hardware store.

I tried neopreme gloves and seemed to me they made my hands feel COLDER.

I don't use expensive waterproof gloves anymore. I look out for sales at the end of the hunting season at Walmart & can usually buy Walmart "waterproof" gloves for 5 bucks a pair - maybe less. When I go hunting if it is raining I'll bring three pairs or so. If it is cold I put a handwarmer in my glove across the back of my hand - this eliminates the need for heavy gloves.

well Joe i think im gonna miss it by that much of a hair.)0800 here now we just had a beautiful sunrise of reds and pinks and yellows ,stars were out when i came to work at 0600.I think yarmouth and stjohn new brunswick will get the eye of kyle....

may just get sum wind and rains here??which is good as the ducks will hold instead of leaving..

Makayla and i were Battenin down the hatches just incase last nite lol to cute she was she loves a good storm too

Same here with the big commercial rubber gloves. Have a set of seal skinz, don't care for 'em one bit.

One other thing I'd suggest is some Helly Hansen polypro glove liners. Eric Caswell hooked me up with some and I keep a bunch of them in my blind bag.
