sunup on a grain field,Daisy retrieved 2 mallards here and almost got into a porky but the electro collar is worth every single penny as far as im concerned as she never got a single quill only a good jolt from the collar saved here from alot of pain and maybe worse ..

then off we go solo hunting the Bay O fundy shore and have a great morning managed 2 teal and a WOODY hard to believe.and its all Miss Daisy`s doing were going along checking potholes in the marsh in some high grass and she goes hot so i figure a pheasanto perhaps nope out squirted a woody her first and it got far enough away to shoot i busted its wings and the chase was on in belly deep muck like a grey hound she caught up to it and brought it back..right sum proud of her extra treats for that good gurl

I took a young buck out for a day in the marsh`s of malagash and scaped up three mergs and 1 partridge and 6 crows hes catching on hes hiting things flying after only 2 times out and again no camera in the truck this time aggggggggrrrrrr.

so far the tally if it matters which it doesnt to me ,about 20 crows ,hate them duck eatin buggers, 2 mallards,4 teal,1 woody,3 mergs....

the best part is Miss Daisy she has come of age right fine in her 2cnd year ,has made double retieves and a tripple to, lots of blind retieves and today she put up 11 partridge for me to shoot at..in and ancient apple orchard over 100 years old it was heavliy over grown and tight i only fired 3 times as they were that fast and never passed out int he open, gotta love it but no burds for her to get here mouth on its a shame she worked hard and flawlessly ..and to boot it was raining the whole time we were soaked by the time we found our way out.hAd to be over 200 apple trees in there, found an old well and stone foundation all thats left of a farm gone to the way side..
well there the report from up here ,i hope all your hunting trips are as fun as mine are take care all ,ill try and get more pics as it happens..

cheers

Thanks for the nice tale Shermie.Miss Daisy sounds like a wantadoglikeher. Thanks for the nice oics.

Shermie-

Gorgeous pictures...especially the landscape shots. Down here, our fall seems to be consisting more of slightly cooler temps, some higher humidity and still not much color change.

I love teal! They are such fun little buggers to chase.

Looking at those pictures, I could tell for sure that you were in Grouse country as well and then I saw that you live in Nova Scotia. That was supposed to be my trip this year but with the birth of my 3 child in the end of June put some things on hold. We were going to go to Cape Cod for a day or so and then drive up to Maine and take the ferry to Nova Scotia for a day or so of hunting for me. Oh Well...such is life....maybe next year.

Cheers,
Mike

Those are great pictures Shermie. I have never seen a crow decoy in anyones goose spread before. As for the turkeys, we have a lot of them here in Michigan and most will allow cars to come within a couple of feet but if a door opens, they're gone. I think those are probably wild birds that have had very minimal contact (if not none) with humans. Should you have a hunting season on them at some point, I don't think you will get that close to them again.

Shermie, you are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I recall days in the UP where even if ducks didn't exist I would've rather been in the marsh than anyplace else. Thanks for bringing back some memories.

jeeze guys thanks i geuss a fella takes it for granted living in one place all his life and always wanting to see other places ,which i get to see when you all share your pics from places ill probably never see in real life .I thank you for your pics too..

Ill try and get more pics of scenery for yas ,as i never think of it so i will take some more for those of you who like them..and remind you of days in the past or in the furture...

bear with me, my camera is only cheap...and it doesnt take real bad pics if i can hold it still enough

thanks again guys

Shermie

oh I had the ducks tonite for supper ummmmm good cooked them in a pan with maple syrup and whiskey with bacon...and afew spices on a bed of white rice....Makayla she is a dear she has tried all the new ducks as i getem i cook them and last year the mergansers were her favorite duck and i was asked to get more daddy..

so far she likes the mallard then tonite she says the wood duck is her new favorite and the mallard second oh no maybe the the other duck from last year is second daddy{merganser} .so i dont know what to tell ya guys her taste for ducks is expanding .she has eaten goose, mallard, merganser, teal, wood duck, partridge this year and today she says that the woody is new favorite over the merganser and mallard....

It realy is the way you cook them i try different things just about everytime..she realy liked the real maple syup i cooked the bacon in as it candied it up and was tastey...even Sheila like the bacon but passed on the duck lol,god love her she puts up with me and hunting even tho she never grew up around it..so no taste for the wild stuff..when i was a kid my job was to keep filling the freezer for mum and dad..lol

Gorgeous wood duck. Of all the birds I've eaten they are my favorite. Just roasted with seasoning salt.

Keep those pics comin'!

Mike
