Shooting hens

I think Brad brings up a good point.

You might have a spot with 5 nesting pairs and each bird had 5 ducklings.

With fewer breeding pairs, you may have fewer nests, but larger broods.

And with favorable conditions, you might get multiple broods in a breeding season.

I believe it is about habitat and conditions.

Just like salmon, ducks need what they need to breed and succeed.

Habitat and conditions.

Hen shooting is more of an ethical issue than a management issue & most "waterfowlers" pass on the hens.

hahahahahahahah careful Jeff, you're beginning to sound like you're moving to become an elitist......

I haven't read the article. But, I shoot hens. I shoot drakes. Somedays it seems like the only ducks I see in a marsh are ringneck hens, and if they're what is around then that's what I'll attempt to invite to dinner with me. I figure the biologists are ok with hen shooting then I"m good with hen shooting.
