Shotgun Fit

Can anyone suggest a good gunsmith on Long Island, NY. Just moved back home and looking to get back into gunning this winter. I need to shorten the length of pull on a couple of guns. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Get fitted with the cloths you hunt with. With lighter cloths you can add a thicker pad. I have two pads for my sporting clays guns, thinner pad going on in a couple weeks.

Anybody can cut down a stock.
You may want to go to the sporting clays range. They will have a shotgun pro that work with you then fit you to your shotgun.
You may have to change the drop ect.
As Rich suggested bring your hunting cloth.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate all the help. I have a Beretta A390ST, that just doesn't mount well and I have never been able to shoot it well. I didn't know anything about shotgun fit when I bought it 20 years ago. A few years back, on a very windy and snowy day, I was in a goose pit and my Beretta froze up. I borrowed the guides Winchester pump and dropped a pair out of the the next bunch. After doing a bit of research, I learned that the length of pull on the Winchester is a half an inch shorter than the Beretta.

x2 IMO fit is the most important factor for wing shooting

I had my 20 gauge OU and my Montrefelto 12 gauge fitted several years ago and found the process very interesting. There is a gun smith out of CO that travels to the state and regional sporting clays events and sets up a little work shop onsite. After making sure the gun was unloaded he has you mount the gun and he looks down the barrel at you. Apparently he wants your eye (iris) to be centered on the bead and then LOP to match your arm length. The for approximately $300 he starts making sawdust out of your $1000 gun. He mounts a new pad and fits same right there and seals the raw wood for you to finish later. I had the 12 gauge done first - shot a round of clays and liked it so well I went home and got the grouse gun and had that fitted to match the 12 gauge later that same day. Little hard on the finances that month but what the hell.
