Side by Side floating in the Indian River Lagoon Florida

Here are a few photos of our hunts with Side by Side...

Rex is doing great, filling Shah's shoes, marking good and making some long retrieves, next year may be a little different for him with Tut working too;

We hunted the IRL for our UW-F winter meeting hunt. Dennis Dutcher (UW-F President) and Joe Benedict (FWC state waterfowl and small game director) hunted with me and the dogs, Bluebills and Bluewings;

Then Wednesday, back out on the Indian River Lagoon and more teal and bluebills...

I hunted with Terry Gibson (R) who was editor of Florida Sportsman magazine and now has his own I-pad journal called Fly and Light Tackle Angler

..and Dr. Peter Barile (L) who is a published expert on the IRL lagoon estuary system. We are working to get Peter a grant to do a comprehensive water quality study of the Indian River Lagoon System, to map the nutrient pollution sources, nutrients which are killing the sea grasses in the lagoon.

Tut went on each hunt and, of course, was the star of the show, he made sure of that.

Not gun shy at all, slept up on the blind next to the ducks while we hunted.

At the end of the day, on our last hunt with Side by Side, no-one saw him do it; I guess he just wanted to leave his trademark on the decoy too...

Never hurt it!!!!! My pup did it to my Roddy Wilson Blue wing. I took it the next year and showed Roddy and he laugh like crazy....
 
Love it Hitch! All the shots, the hunt history and the video. My chocolate female when she was alive only chewed one of my gunners. I still have it. It is very special to me. It is part of the decoys history. That pup just added to it...

You're quite the host Hitch! Love the fact that the pup left his mark on SxS. Nothing better in my book than a gunning decoy that has gunned, and shows some battle scars.

Hitch, Well if no one saw him do it maybe he didn't do it.;-). Reminds me that I have a call that has puppy tooth marks, one of my favorites. Good to see the traveler get better action in Fla. than it did in N.D.
 
Thanks guys! Getting ready to hit the hay. Grandson Lucas and I are going out again in the morning. We saw a nice flock of Old Squaw flying with a dozen Butterballs on the way back to the ramp Wednesday, so our plan is to set up more in the open water and put out the white decoys, including my Yukon Mike Squaws, and Russell and Richey and Yukon Mike Buffs, and a pair of Pat's toilet seat Cans, and Jim Drake Goldeneye, and see if we can't attract some cold weather sprig.

When you first emailed me what happened, I laughed and I laughed, then I thought about it, and I laughed some more...

Crap! I forgot about the white monster! My bad...no squaws or buffleheads around today but plenty of teal and bluebills again. Hitch
