Site News - Please Read

Good morning, Eric~

I'm very sorry to hear this. Terrible news for all of us, but for you especially. 'tis a wonderful creation you have given us.

I'm sure, too, that many recognize this behavior/business practice in today's cyberworld. Hosts/vendors et cetera change important things continually without asking or even informing their customers. It is a profound ethical gap in my view.

All I can do is keep my Old School fingers crossed - and be ready to donate funds if they can help with a solution.

All the best,

SJS

Well, first off, all of this is way over my head. From what I'm reading it sounds pretty bad. I applaud your hard work and hope you are able to get this resolved! I know I speak for everyone in saying it is hard work greatly appreciated.

!Update!

I didn't go hunting today. Instead I put in about 14 hours trying to get this forum working on the new server. I actually had some success today, despite taking this forum down accidently for an hour or so. There are more hurdles in front of me but for the first time I have some hope. Easy On Net has been helpful in every way that they can. Back when Gossamer, our original ISP who developed this forum code, was in business they were a collection of perl gurus. Well times have changed and perl isn't used for web development anymore so most ISPs don't have that skill set in house. So Easy On Net is helping me with server admin problems and I'm tackling getting the perl code up and running.

More to come...

Eric

Thanks Eric for all your hard work!!
Things seem to be working, a little wonky but working.

I can?t post/type except in basic editor screen.
Had to log in manually too.

Everything looks and works fine here now. Had to log in but my pw etc were ok. Had to switch to "basic editor" ? to be able to add text hence the first post w/o any text.

Thanks for your hard work Eric. Be sure to let us know if this adds a need for more financial support to this site. More than glad to jump in again.

But these issues are minor compared to what you have dealt with.
A heartfelt thank you for preserving this community for us.
We are all truly grateful!!

Same here but I'm at the shop on my phone and thought that was the culprit. You folks having trouble with the editors on your phone or desktop? I will look into it later.

Eric

Btw, our power has been off most of the time. May not be able to work on the site until reliable power returns.

Electric vehicles my ass. The grid can't even meet the demands from some cold weather.

Eric

I only use my phone but not a problem once I figured out what I had to do to post text.

:) Actually maybe working better than before for me? Maybe it was me doing something wrong but I had lost the notifications emails on threads I had posted on, etc. I'm receiving them again but it's probably something I did in the past? Turned something off of goodness knows what? I'm just a user on these things and can barely make things work.... but forgive because I'm old. :)

Anyway, glad you have it going again! I know we all are appreciative of your efforts
