Slim victory on the UN Arms trade treaty

John L

Well-known member
53-46 vote to defeat the UN small arms treaty!

While this may not be new news to some this is that brief moment in history that most people would not blink an eye at unless they are firearms owners and even some of them don't understand the implications of this treaty being passed.

Now, Which 46 Senators Voted to Destroy Us? Well, let their names
become known !! See below

In a 53-46 vote, the Senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the
United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. The
Statement of Purpose from the Bill reads: "To uphold Second Amendment
rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations
Arms Trade Treaty." The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed
by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on
the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all
private gun owners in the U.S. and had language that would have implemented
an international gun registry, now get this, on all private guns and ammo.

Astonishingly, 46 out of our 100 United States Senators were willing to
give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.

Here are the 46 senators who voted to give your rights to the U.N.
Baldwin (D-WI)
Baucus (D-MT)

What is happening with the USA. We were the most powerful country. With our leadership now we are broke, borrowing from everyone... What changed??? Look back to our founding fathers. Where did we turn around. Start by talking to your reps and buying AMERICAN... Don't let the world control the US. Where did WE go wrong???
Sorry for ranting, I'm a VET...

this vote will be a year old in a couple weeks

http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/290001-senate-votes-to-stop-us-from-joining-un-arms-treaty

but when ever this reappears I always wonder

is any name on the list that voted for the UN treaty - really a surprise to anyone?

This isn't just a gun problem. This country has forgotten its self. Its a shame the decline I have witnessed in just the past 20 years. I have always been proud of my 23 years of Naval service and felt like I made a difference here, and all over the world. It now appears that its not "cool" to be in the service anymore and the DoD is just a waste of tax payer dollars. I watch everyday as military contracts get chopped to save money (it all somehow goes to some foreign country that we want to be our friend). It appears that we spend more time on the "squeaky wheel" and less on majority rules. We have no patience for anything or anyone and we need instant gratification. We are more connected with people all over the world and more disconnected from reality. Too many people wont work and hold their hands out feeling that they need what everyone else has, no matter how the other person got it. Everyone gets the same award whether they win or lose..."we are all winners"! We are more impressed by a celebrity who plays pretend or a sport and will shell out ridiculous amounts of money to them but gripe about the money we have to give to the guy who is busting knuckles working on your car, fixing the sink, caring for our children. We interfere and meddle in too many world affairs. Rarely do we make them better. We love to toot our own horn about how we helped foreign countries but we shy away from the conversation that discusses how we don't take care of our own. We turn on our own quicker than we do our enemies. We have loyalty to nothing! Old Glory is a rag......Pledge of Allegiance is Draconian..........the National Anthem is dull. If we don't like something......its got to go.....even if its only ONE person who wants the change. Politicians are the worst of the bunch and show no loyalty to those that elected them. They continue to pass laws that benefit them or their agendas. I heard tonight that a woman has a lawsuit against her company because she doesn't want to be called "her, she, miss, etc" nor does she want to be a man. She wants to be gender neutral and asks for $18k in back pay and a half million for pain and suffering. The lawyer who takes the case should be disbarred. I didn't come from much, I never asked for much, and I have made my own way. It would be nice to see everyone else do the same. Sorry for the rambling........................

Ask yourself what Washington (George) would think if he came back today for a day? My thought is that he would think we were re-invaded by another country with the same principals and foundations we fought to escape. Thinks about it; we have a ruling class of politicians that you will never be a part of unless you have millions, ivy league graduate, lawyer and helps if you have a family name to fall back on if nothing else. The new Kennedy Rep in MA is a perfect example. Then we have the large businesses that the ruling class owns and or looks out for, that employee most of us; sound familiar? How about the nobles and lords owning all the land that the peasants worked on and depended upon for a living. History repeats itself. Sorry I am ranting................

Love this quote.....

Both clowns (comedians) from Minnesota made us proud again, NOT!!! Even back when Saturday Night Live was funny Franken wasn't and now he is scary.

I agree, recently i went on a similar rant. The up coming 2014 elections are the place to start. Throw the liberal socialists out of office, Replace them with folks that uphold the constitution regardless of their party.VOTE COUNTRY FIRST. As a conservative i am fed up with boehner, mcconnel, graham, mccain and the like. I won't even capitalize their names. Taking back the senate will help to save the country then we can concentrate on the 2016 presidential election.

So many people in this country vote for someone/anyone who will promise to give them something "free" that they have blinders on to the "freedom" they are slowly losing.

This will get some upset, however, unfortunately, whenever i am in a room of sportsman, I firmly believe that a large percent will vote for these senators and those like them. I know many gun owners and "sportsmen" who regularly vote for those who don't support our constitutional rights. Whether you want to believe it or not, many on this website will do so also.

I believe it. I have spoken to many guys that are involved in shooting sports of one kind or another and a lot of them have no idea what is happening to our rights.
They are voting for the same politicians that are pushing for laws that are senseless and only hurt law abiding firearms owners. We are loosing ground at a very fast rate and these laws are doing nothing to address the real problem.

I hate to be dragging politics into this forum but we, as sportsmen have to band together.
Our nation is under attack and it is not only from foreign powers it is from within!

And way too many do not vote at all

A guns rights group claimed that Andrew "safe act" Coumo's victory margin was less than the estimated number of non voting gun owners in NY (don't have any idea how they come up with that number)

BUT - if you want to keep the 2nd Amendment alive -- you and you family and friends need to vote - and vote carefully,

Rick,

I just read through that decision. I'm surprised that it came from 9th Circiut.
Great news for our friends in CA.
From the way I read that it may just set a precedent that will force other unfriendly 2A states to follow suit.
