Slow and steady or just slow, progress on the Honker.

well this is how far I have got on the honker since last summer in June when I started it. This afternoon I cut the deck pieces out and will be installing them this week I hope.

Nice work so far.
I have a serious boat envy, that would be a great dual purpose hull for here on Mobile Bay.

Looking good Craig, slow and steady will get the job done on the boat, but your little buddy in the one picture looks a little impatient and attention starved....LOL. can't wait to see the completed picture on the water with a happy chessie on board.

Good morning Craig~

Great workmanship on a "working ship" that really gets my juices flowing. Being an old Great South Bay boy - whose first boat was a garvey - the Honker speaks to me. I look forward to watching you with all the little details that make boat-building so much fun.

All the best,

SJS

Thanks for putting those up!!! Very nice.

I have never seen someone fillet the longitudinals without the bulkheads/knees in. How did you do it? Spread the tops along the sheer as specified at the stations and then glass? Seems like that has potential.

Work overall looks very clean.

Thanks,

Wired it up.
Put the bulkheads in and held them in place with screws. Then tabbed the whole thing with epoxy /wood flour took out the bulkheads and filleted and taped it up. Then put back the bulkheads, had to round the corners to get them to fit, filleted and taped them in.

The PDF booklet that came with the plans made me think that was the way to do it this time.

What? Someone is actually building a boat and posting it to this site?

It looks great! You'll have a blast in it

Thanks,
