Smith & Wesson........finally

Dave, the wife and I got into skeet shooting about 10 or 12 years ago and I bought a 12,20, 28 ga Mec loaders..I bought "her" a nice 3 barrel SKB skeet o/u set 20/28/410 and if I am not using my Browning gold on ducks..it is the gun that is in my hands. I use the 410 a lot on farm birds..I use the big 3" magnums #6....The 20 barrels have removable chokes and the 28 and 410 are choked skeet. I've been procrastinating about having chokes put in the 28 but they want too damn much money for a cheap prick like me!

I just checked on getting that Ruger Redl Label 20 threaded and it's $100 a barrel + shipping and that does not include any choke tubes. Instead I think I'll just hone it out to I/C and Mod since I have the honing tools. Only trouble with that is, it leaves you with very little forcing cone left.

I bought a new 870 .410 3" when they first came out with them back in the early '70's. I bought it as a second gauge gun for my Mexico hunts. I spent the month of February 1973 at a friends Rancho on the El Fuerte River N/W of Los Mochis, Sinaloa.

I would shoot my 12 ga. one day and the .410 the next to keep my shoulder from getting too sore. I learned years before that it's no fun no matter how good the shooting is when your shoulder looks like a purple onion!

That was a great trip that year, Bucky Emmick and I shot over 5,500 rounds that hunting trip. Mostly white-wing doves, but a lot of ducks, black bellied tree ducks, blue pigeons and three species of quail. The best eating (and my Mexican hosts favorite) was the black ibis......very tasty.

Paradise in Mexico is having tons of ammo and a un-plugged gun!

Dave

Seems like it would be easy to thread a barrel...any metal machine guys out there that could shed a light on what would be involved?? Dave, my favorite gun is my Savage 22/410 over under I got when I was 11. I was disappointed when I got it cause I wanted an automatic..Dad knew what he was doing! That thing is super full choked and has tons of rabbits, pheasant and quail to it's honor.
