Sneak Wood Duck Palm Frond

Everything about that decoy is first class but am I the only one that can't believe the detail and work that would go into making the eye shaped that way. I would call it an eyelid but its more then just that.

Bob,

That, my friend, is beautifully done.

I know that somewhere, Joe is grinning from ear to ear.

Very best,

Rick

Rick,

Funny you should mention that. While I was doing this bird, I was thinking back to sitting with him at the VA after I brought up the painting supplies we all collected for him. As he sat drawing on that wood duck blank to show me what he wanted me to take home and modify on it for him, I had the privelege to sit in on a "clinic." The information & details he was still able to reach back and remember stunned me.

I guess he carved a few of these in his day, eh? I miss the old curmudgeon.

One more pic showing the back of this frond in better focus. It really lit up for me:

Dang! I'm such a wimp that I could never put something that nice in a stinky ol' marsh. Woodies shouldn't feel ashamed to be fooled by that. You are so good with the highlights and iridescents showing all the colors.

Tim

Bob,
The picture of you and Joe is as cool as the frond it self. Nice job as always. Great catching up with you on the phone the other night. Take care, Greg MLB

Fantastic!! Even on this flat screen computer, that baby looks dimensional!
Had to drag my lazy butt out of this chair and hunt down the wife to show her your bird. Congratulations.
