sneakbox build update

Thanks Bob, I'll try to get them up today or tomorrow. I don't know what the problem is, the pics of my new posted with no problem but I had the same problem a month or so ago.

Howard,
check the name of the picture file.
If there are spaces, or odd characters it may give a problem downloading.

I switched to an online photo service and it works well, but the downloads are fine too.

Chris, they ride the water really well, kinda like a decoy. I did a speed check on the last one I built this past spring. I had a 5hp Mariner on it and when sitting on the seat it will do 6 mph. It will also do 6 mph with a 10 hp. That is the hull design. When I used a tiller extension and moved up about 2/3s the length of the gunning box it surprised the hell out of me and did an honest 10mph. I have a video about 10 minutes long but i don't know how to put it on line. U-Tube maybe?

Thanks Howard, they look really nice in those pics. Did you make the seat watertight bulkhead? I was thinking about doing that instead of the seat design in the plans. Were there any areas of the plans you found particularly difficult to achieve, like the built up sheer in the front? Anything else you would recomend changing? How much do yours end up weighing?

Chris, the seat is actually a floatation chamber. On some models I put a small storage area with a 4" deckplate in the floatation chamber. The boat actually hit the USCG scales at a tic over 150 as shown. As I said earlier, I double a piece of 3/4 inch marine ply for the transom, plus the seat, floor and floatation.

Gilles,

That boat looks great!! I have been wanting to attempt to build something very similar; however, I have never built a boat before. I notice you are in Barrie. I am not to far away in Innisfil. Would you be willing to give some pointers or give lessons on getting started? Not sure if your done yours yet, but if not, let me know if you need some help glassing it.

Thanks!
Dave
