i hunt more open water then the marshes as of late, and since we cover them over with grass its no an issue,but in reverse the boat not in grey in the bay would stick out forsure...

Here is my 12' fiberglass sneak box. Pretty cool story. The boat was made back in the early 80s by guys working at the Post Yachts factory in NJ. Guys would stay after hours and use the extra materials to build the boats. I believe they built about 15 boats in total. It is a rocket ship with the 15hp hanging off the stern.

Good thread. How many of you use an after market seat? I was thinking about getting a momarsh or something along those lines. The 2x8 becomes a little uncomfortable after a few hours.

I use and would highly recommend the Momarsh seat.
 
I too would recommend the momarsh seat. My dad has one and I still have one of the reclining ones from another manufacturer, the ones that soak up water, but once that one goes I'll be replacing it with a momarsh.

Very easy to fall asleep on those slow days.
 
I truely LOVE this thread!

One of my favorite aspects of this site is "THE BOATS".

I have a 12' Zack Taylor Sneakbox, but unfortunately, since I haven't used it lately, I don't have any "Hunting" photos of it to share.

I do plan on changing that next year!

I do have a few that may be worth looking over however.

Here's one of her sitting on the newly acquired, used trailer someone actually "gave" to me. I've since rebuilt it to allow my little boat to ride both comfortably and safely to our destinations.

I have always wanted to stop in at the museum in Chincoteaque. When did it close down?

When I head up or down the coast I usually come in to port at Ocean City or Va Beach and its just to far from either port.
 
John, I believe it closed down officially about two years ago. My family and I go to Chincoteague several times a year. We all agree it is our "home away from home".

We were just there a couple weeks ago and there is now a "For Sale" sign at the driveway. Shame, it's such an awesome place! I have spent many an hour in there just looking in awe. Thirty years ago, there was a "Resident Carver" at the museum by the name of Delbert "Cigar" Daisey. I used to go in there and chat with him about just about anything in general, Duck Hunting in particular. At that time you could watch him carve and paint one of his Buffies or Ruddys then buy it for about $30.00. This past trip, we saw those same blocks selling for about $3,000.00! What an investment, huh?

We were actually there a couple years ago on what we believe to be the last day it was open. The woman at the register said that it was the last day for the season, and we have not seen it open since. I understand it is/was owned by a man from New jersey and most of the items in the museum are actually his own private collection. I then heard he became old, frail and ill.

Thought I'd update. Below is how it was setup during this season. Now I'm seriously considering trying to add the type of grass rails Steve Sanford recently illustrated

By the way, if your boat ever gets stuck on mud like this don't try to pull it off by yourself.

Looks good! As to having to drag/push a sneakbox through the mud... been there, done that, got the souvenir mug...

Thanks for bumping this up again. It gave me the chance to edit / get rid of the empty photo boxes from the old photo host site I was using back then. Replaced them with photos loaded up to this site so they should stay as long as the post does.

Glad it worked out that way. I ran across this while trying to research grass/thatch rails for sneak boxes.
