Sneakbox suggestions

Hey all I am looking into upgrading from my canoe this season and I love the idea of getting a sneakbox! They seem perfect for the salt marsh hunting I do here in southern CT. Generally it's just myself and my 60lb drahthaar but occasionally my girlfriend comes along as well.

What I'm wondering is with all the variations available, what should I look for? I have a motor and serviceable trailer but I'd like a 12-14' boat with decoy racks and a spray shield. (I somehow just missed out on two that seemed to fit the bill in he classifieds here)

But what advice can you offer a first time sneakbox buyer?

Thanks,
Patrick

you might want to look at Duck Boss boats they have a 13' boat db13 and they are now building the Dave Clark Estuary

That post was extremely helpful and you boat looks fantastic! Is that the newer Bimini style spray shield?

Pat, I would take the trip to Tuckerton NJ and see the different types and sizes. Also Southbay waterfowlers runs one on Long Island. Many for sale at these shows.
Small boat, easier to handle, hide and less motor. Bigger boat, larger motor, but you can bring a buddy. Always great to hunt with a buddy. We hunt with smaller boats, but usually 2-3.

Pat, Yes it's a bimini style I fabricated myself to hide my monster sized lab. See picture in link below

Steve, plenty more pictures simply search my name as author and "sneakbox" as search string. This is one showing the base sisal before the natural grass.

Pat,

I hunt Rhode Island's salt marshes in a sort of sneakbox I constructed. It's only 11 feet long, and is best when hunted alone, but I've transported other folks in it on many trips to hunting spots in the salt ponds.

If you weigh 200 pounds or less I'd be more than happy to bring you for a test drive in a salt pond if you are considering constructing one.

By the way, the person who inspired me to construct this boat is, I believe, originally from your area, and has hunted there in the past.
