You got me beat. It was -13 in the truck this morning which usually runs warm. You are right about the emergency kit. All year long I have an emergency kit in the turck with warm cloths, hand warmers, flash light, extra tools, duct tap and there is a wool blanket and small sleeping bag under the back seat. I've been trying to get my girlfriend to put one in her car but her trunk always seems to be filled with jackets, hoodies and sweat pants that I think she'd have enough layers to man a small army.

OK, the cold has finally hit here. 5 degrees this morning, which, for a normal December, really isn't all that cold. The problem is that the 4 inches of rain we had on Sunday/Monday is still running off the ridge behind my house, and it gets funneled down my driveway. Multiple layers of ice, up to 4 or five inches thick. (We're on a bit of a hill, and are thinking of renting it out for bob sled and luge training.)

My wife nearly broke her arm on the driveway this morning, and I deployed about 50 pounds of rock salt, but so much water keeps pouring it that it washes away before it gets much melting done.

Anybody know where I can get one of those blowers they use to de-ice airplane wings, cheap?
