So this freaks me out a little

I am losing my time sense apparently because it doesn't seem like that many years have passed.

But I guess they have...many good stories, fun jokes, great people.

So yesterday, after about 36 years, I decided to execute my years old plan to take a break from work to focus on golf, fishing and hunting. My target is to make it until January, or at least so I say, before I get the winter blahs and start looking for consulting gigs. I spent a lot of years taking late night phone calls and missing planned duck hunts so you just never know...this may be a sabbatical or it may be a permanent change.

An old fart's thoughts...

Oh! I am heading out tomorrow at 6am to do a little perch and walleye fishing on the west side of Saginaw Bay and hopefully do a little scouting around Nyanquing...theres a trainload of ducks and geese in the area I hear, and that being Zone 2, the opener is weekend after next.

Funny, My current contract runs out the 18th of October and our duck season starts the 19th! There is a slim chance it's going to be renewed but I'm hoping not. Another old farts thoughts have been...."Can I sneak in a whole hunting season before I have to start looking for another assignment?" Of course my wife doesn't know about this old farts thoughts yet...LOL Good luck tomorrow.

Thanks a lot Scott and Ed!!

As I sit reading this at WORK facing another 10 hour day,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, nope, not a good way to start the day. :>) :>) May you guys enjoy you new found freedoms and may it last a lifetime if that is your wishes.

(I do have a small confession, I leave tomorrow morning for a weeks R&R up in the BWCA.)

Dave

You may be AT your place of work, but we all know you're not really working.

Chuck

First, Dave "Boo Hoo, I am so sorry you have to squeeze in a week here and there"HeeeHeee
Scott, I have heard that work is for those who don't know how to hunt and fish. Enjoy every day of your new freedom, it could become a habit.

Just do it Scott, you won't regret it. Contrary to some beliefs, us retired guys don't all end up watching soaps all day. Some of us are gone more than home :) I just got back from 2 1/2 weeks in Colorado for my 19th archery elk season and leave on Saturday for a tour through Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and culminating in a archery Moose hunt on Newfoundland. Once I get back - mid/late October, our duck season will be going strong and then after a couple of weeks I'll head for Kansas and a week at Cheyenne Bottoms. Early next year I have a dive trip to Bonaire and an archery hog hunt in Texas on the docket.................Just DO IT.

Pete is it a rifle hog hunt or a knife hog hunt? I have been involved in both in Texas. I would suggest you opt for the dogs and the knife.

Pete you made me think of my bro in law who often sings that country song " I am as good ONCE as I ever was"....I don't think I would be trying that knife deal either. Long bow seems like that would be hard enough

That certainly seems to be true Eric. The hard part is convincing the mind of what the body already knows. For some reason, as we get older the mind doesn't want to listen very well.

Have a good opener. I won't be hunting ducks until after the split, but that's not a complaint considering what I'll be doing.
