So Tod...

I relaunched the boat this weekend with the helm and hydraulic steering.. what a blast. Anyway, I sanded the hull down and repainted... I must have taken a 1/16th or so off the wedge program because my boat porpoises now...It's not a weight distribution thing as the helm sits forward, and it's not an engine height thing as I placed the motor back in its original slot... not dangerously, but enough to cause concern. What a pain.

You guys are scaring me. I am having a 40hp Yamaha hung off my Snow Goose this week. I hope it does not porpoise. If it does, I know what I have to do. Can not wait to get the Goose wet.

A,

Oh no ! i have noticed mine porpoises a little with weight back try putting one of the boys up front maybe the weight of the console is border line as far as location front to back in the cockpit .Otherwise how did it go . Come on you need to post some pics , i want to see it PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a blast. Will and I went to Wordens. I did the right thing re William - the wheel is tons easier for him to "engage", he pumped the bulb, started it and drove it... the tiller was confusing for him.

Yes, I will post a pic tonight if I have time. I am going to that duckhunting capital of the world tomorrow first thing (Phx).

It's really cool Dave.

Ok... I leaned how to "size" pics, I'm embarrassed by how easy it was... however, in order to get it below the 100k mark, it's a very small pic. Nonetheless, I'll try to get more pics up this weekend.

Attending the Woodenboat show in Mystic this weekend...anyone else?

Thanks,A.

Andrew....its very possible to get a picture below 100K without making it as small as your original picture was....quality on this n eis great because I had to jack the little one back up to 900 pixels wide and then "solve for <100K"....(this one is under 80K BTW so you can see that its not impossible).....keep trying....the boat looks great...but hwhy didnt' you post a picture o the rear so I could see the trim tabs? She looks great. Hard to tell with my monitor, but did you go with grey or white this time? Looks nice.

How do you like the console? Did you build a leaning post or seat or is it designed for stand up use?

Very nice.

Charlie

PS. With the combined weight of the console, hydraulics, and driver back there behind amidships I can see how you may have changed the balance of the boat.

Yeah... I had to cheapen the pic to get the small size...

The top is a grey/green, the innards are painted with a bronze/green... classic boat colors dating back a gajillion years.

I can stand or sit on the bulkhead, both positions are comfortable. The helm is only 36", so when steering, the top of the wheel is grabbed.

I hear you re the weight distribution, but, I figured it adds about 60 lbs total. The tiller weighs in around 20... so the net is about 40. Charlie, I used to ride all the time with 2 people sitting on the "ass seat", i.e. the 2nd to last bulkhead with no porpoising issues...

I know what I did... I "faired" the hull again and I went too crazy on the wedges. I cut about 1/16th off I reckon.

Anyway, it is an absolute blast to drive in this configuration. I made sure the blind will fit. The helm seems way far back, but my 9 year old can steer and I can sit and he can sit in my lap and we both have plenty of elbow room.

More later.

WHAT IN THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOUR DUCK BOAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?

It is porpoising out of protest.

Great Dave.

Tod... when the blind is on and the camo surrounds the boat, you'd never know. The inside is dark.

It's still a duck boat, don't worry...; )

Andrew, I think you better let me test it out this duck season for you and i'll write a full report on its performance for you in Feb. when i return it

Mike

Andrew, I thought for a minute those Danish duck hunters influenced you. I think all there duck boats are white. You could even put a red cross on it in case Dave get in trouble......... hee hee
