So we're driving home from Wisconsin...

I think Bluegills are N. America's equivalent of a Piranah. I caught one once on a bare hook dangling over the water while I was getting my bait ready. We were standing in water about Knee deep in shorts and I could feel them nipping the hairs on my legs.

Scott,
Nice job on that gill. You've always impressed me with your creativity. Very cool. Now...let's flyfish for some...and, add a bit of Sapphire...just to "wet" the line that is. ;) Been a while.
Later partner,
Lou

Well I can not say I have ever had blue gills for breakfast or otherwise, but brook tout on the other hand is awesome for breakfast.

I like to scale them & then fry whole. Nothing better than crunching on crispy fins!

John- Please stop teasing us northerners we have 30" snow and 12" plus of ice. I would not mind moving south

Good thing it wasn't an Old Squaw and pancakes restaurant...I'll be down there soon...I feel like painting and I ll bring Tom and another guy when everyone gets home from Florida. And gin.

Scott,
Now...if we found a restaurant with Oldsquaw & pancakes...I'd worry. Not many of those around. I'll tell you though, my oldest son, Brian, and his buddies hunted OS and limited out all 6 days after LSC froze over just a bit North of us.
Looking forward to you guys dropping in. I'll make sure I've got the ice.
Lou

Jeez, Chris, I though you were looking to come north. 30" is nothing . . . . .and they make extensions for augers.

Brook trout are Delicious, cooked in a cast iron skillet outdoors, small ones get ate head to tail, but I just can't get myself to killem anymore. Their to darn Beautiful, and I'm "Older". Crappies & Blue gills NO problem. I steam B - gill fillets, chillem in the frig, and dip em in cocktail sauce. Got Beer?

Now that's a new one for me...sounds delicious, like shrimp cocktails

Scott

You got it. A "inland poorboy fisherman's shrimp cocktail"...... Spring water & Old Bay. Left overs, if their are any, make Great Sangwiches to put in the cooler, when ya go catch more the next day.
My feeling is, if I'm gonna fillet a few, I might as well fillet 50...... Lotta work but well worth it.
