Some day I will sleep until the alarm goes off....

Congratulations on the new bird! That is one of the things I love about waterfowl hunting- the variety, AND there's always the chance to bring home something new.

Here in NE Ohio, we too have the giant subspecies as residents. An interesting note here- the giants generally move around and decoy to smaller flocks, family sized bunches, of birds. A small spread of 2 to 3 dozen decoys is usually adequate. The migrant lessers that come thru later, usually flock up in the hundreds. They are a little more wary, and often will not decoy to a small spread.

All eat excellent though! Enjoy yours. Our favorite way is cube the beasts, roll in (has to be), Mccormick's Cajun Seasoning, wrap enough bacon around to cover, secure with a toothpick and grill, (or pan fry), on a higher heat until the bacon is crispy, while the meat is no more than medium rare. They NEVER make it to the table!
