Some images from this season......using a Canon instead of a shotgun.

Dani,

I assume you took the pics...Lucky you to spend a semester at sea...of course it fits with your degree

Thank you Dani, that sounds like it was very interesting. What a great place to "stop off" while on a Pacific cruise!! I would imagine those birds were a welcome distrtaction after all that sailing, the banding was a great bonus.

Thank you for sharing!

Regards,

Keith

Thanks Joe, I use them all the time. Whether it was a sea duck rig with sea birds, or a dabbler, diver or brant rig, I would always include some form of a different species such as: gulls, herons, shorebirds, (mergansers), etc.

Here are a few sea bird decoys that were a part of my rigs. I have many confidence decoys shown in my book along with the stories behind them.

Keith - Welcome and many thanks for the great images and information. Now beginners like me have yet another great example of what's possible with the lens. I can' get over the hen eider with the late day sun ( I think) beautiful. I'm looking forward to setting the deeks and spending a day this weekend with my canon. You must have strong hands and arms to hand hold the 100 - 400 ! I also like the northern gannet and often see them 15 miles offshore when fishing. The carving is also wonderful. We have a small lake near here where Crowell used live goose tollers many years ago (wenham lake).

Thank you Capt. Brian, they are always a joy to watch. Were they in flocks, or small groups and singles?

Thank you Dick, I appreciate that! Hen eiders are always special to me.....I can't get enough of them! Have a great time this weekend with your camera and decoys. I will be walking around the coast, we are heavily inundated with broadbill now.....I have been picking up some good images. I know Wenham Lake, isn't is wonderful to live near such an historic place where great artists like Mr. Crowell made history?

Thanks again,

Keith
