These are some of the decoys I have made in carving classes taken from Steve Brettell in southern Maine over the years. If you ever get a chance to take one of his classes jump on it!! I have learned a lot and enjoyed them immensely. The best part is the great people you meet and become friends with. Can't be the camaraderie. Oh yea lunch is something like Elk Steaks or Boar Burgers.. not to shabby... Ed

Ed, very cool job on those dekes. I especially like the Eider.
I met Steve at the Westlake Show and was impressed with him as a carver and a gentleman.

Some of those look similar to some of mine.

Second endorsement for Steves classes. We have a lot of fun and the food is
great.I'll bring a pheasant for the next one. Deal?

I believe Ed is Carving Wendell Wood, aka really good Atlantic Cedar.

Very nice decoys. I like the style. I am considering traveling a bit this year to take some classes and see if I can learn more about different styles and painting. I feel like I am not moving forward anymore.
 
Chuck J, I have been told that before. I really like your canvas Mallards. I have never made a Mallard, I guess the paint scheme is intimidating to me.

Lou, The boys from Maine are talking about making the trip again this year, I'm trying to get a pass from the wifey but we will see. Look forward to meeting you in person some day. Thanks for singing my Black duck decoy that Steve and Carl were passin around.

Rutgers, Thanks! It white cedar. Steve supplies all the materials when taking a class. Geoff is right it comes from Wendal.

Geoff, Pheasant sounds great! They do look alot like yours. Lets get the " No conifdence carvers club" back up and running.

Very cool. Looking forward to seeing them all again this coming Show. That was a neat deal getting to sign that Black Duck. Sorry you couldn't make the show. Come on down this year. Just tell the wife that you're going out to pick up some milk and ............ you'll be back in 5 days. ;) See if it works.

I don't mind the drakes, but I can literally fuss over painting a hen for months.
