some pics after the storm and an ID ???

heres my geuss first pair black and mallard second generation had a a flirtatous date with a golden eye ,,,,then all the boys gang raped her and we had 10 little heathens that were all ugly ducklings.........

thats the 400 reasons i hate mallards, dominate gene domination of the waterfowl world whaaahahahaha......kill them all........i say.....

we get these hydreds up here malard black and sometimes there 2 times the size of a regular early season black duck.....huge alien heads on them....

So what do you count it as in your bag limit? Mallard or black duck? I wouldn't know what to do with it myself.

I believe in will just fall in your daily duck limit instead of species limit, or at least that's how it is down here.
 
Maine game wardens have told me that a hybrid counts as neither a black duck nor a mallard. It's an "other duck".

That said, many hybrids are difficult to identify as such, and we are always very conservative. The last time I was checked, our party of three had what we thought was a mixed bag of one black duck each and one or two hybrids each. The warden's opinion was that all but one of the birds were hybrids, and he told us he wished "you guys had killed more of the damn things".

The reality is that distinguishing a hybrid from a black duck on the wing is tough, so we generally shoot at only very clear greenhead mallards once we have a black duck in the bag.

Better safe than sorry.

He will keep me company in my shop, along with a Broadbill cupped up over over my assembly bench.
