If you can identify this shore bird for me, I would appreciate it. They are cute little tykes. I watched this small flock feed and then in the next split second they were flying and gyrating through the sky making all kinds of twists and turns. Then in less than a minute, the whole flock came back to the same spot and began feeding like nothing happened.

The feather structure on the flights is very interesting to me. Has to be a reason for it.

My guess would be long-billed dowitchers. Head shape doesn't look right for short-bills.

Al - l think you had to be pleased with the depth of field in the first shot, real nice contrast with the red eye and dark green grass !

Nice shots as always Al. I can watch shorebirds for hours. The shot of the cinny in the grass is my favorite - great photo!
