Sometimes, it is better to be lucky than good

Thanks again y'all!

Steve, when Steve and I hunted together we would take turns on birds. This bird was his turn, therefore his bird. So that shouldn't count towards my limit should it? [laugh]

Troy, chilling at the truck waiting for a gobble is a very nice way to turkey hunt. Sure beats heading off into the dark unknown by yourself where the boogeyman lives!

Larry, the pictures were taken with my iphone8. I'm actually not wild about it as a camera for much more than point and shoot (it does nice point and shoot shots if I do my part) but it is so convenient to carry around vs another bigger camera. And sometimes I get lucky and get nice shots. Thanks a lot!

John, I use plain ole Remington Nitro Turkey 3" No. 5 shot. I also shoot a modified choke. The places that I hunt, there is rarely the need for anything tighter than that because they are usually tight with vegetation. There have been only a couple of times that I thought I wished I had a full choke in but even those shots I knew in my heart would have been too far anyway so I shouldn't be taking the shots regardless of the choke. I know that ammo works well with my gun and a full choke though if I thought I needed to switch it out.

Dani,
You really should write for a magazine, had me there the whole time waiting for the next sentence with the same emotion going through my head as you described it.

I can't wait for my season, I finally found a spot that shows promise for killing a bird in the woods and not in the field. I plan to try and use the .410 this year but my go to is my browning silver hunter 20 gauge. Using a primos turkey choke and have Kent's #5 are my favorite, can kill them at 45 yards if I wanted to.

Thanks y'all!

Ben.....good luck with your bird in the woods. Not many fields around me so when I see them in fields I enjoy stopping to watch them without them freaking out.

Congratulations! Thanks for taking us along on the hunt. My heart is beating fast just reading about it. I'm looking forward to getting out after them in a couple weeks. I saw two small flocks with jakes on Saturday while doing some scouting. I heard the first gobble the other night while walking the dog. It's almost time up here in PA. Thanks again for a preview of what that rush is like when you hear the first one in the dark of the morning!

Wow...great visual. You had my heart pumping along with you.
The great thing about being ADHD, we have a photographic memory...meaning, we see what people say, not just hear it.
I was right there with you.
Very cool.
