I think he is turning into a duck hunter. He shot one early in the season but we did not find it so it does not count.

First duck (2nd shot with his new gun)

second duck (3rd shot with his new gun) - This one is going on the wall.

this is how we are hunting. The birds don't seem to mind the boat much

Scott - Your son must be a natural shot with those results and spending time with you - nothing better, in my book. The boat paint job perfect for your spot - someone has talent to paint that !

Nice...Man it took me 20 years to kill a canvasback!
Looks like you got a fine new hunting partner there..

Just think, your son has already proven that he will most likely be the next Tom Knapp! Great pics.

Scott,
I was over in your part of the world Sat. Afternoon and saw you pulling into your neighborhood. The boat looks great! Tell your boy I will hire him as a guide next season. Shawn

Congrats to you and your son! It looks like he's off to a great start.

The boat and decoys do look nice.

I'll second that reply on the canvasback, I've yet to get one. That's what's great about taking kids out, they sure do benefit from your experience. I used to think it would be cool to get an oldsquaw. Well the last few years we've been getting into them a lot. So now on my son's first season he's gotten more oldsquaw than anything else.

and then before you know it they fit in your waders....they shoot your 10ga...they take the dog out when your working..and somehow your custom BBSB is now "his boat"...then they tell you how they really banged the ducks without you on the marsh today!..amazing how fast 20 years go by.....wouldnt want it any other way

My boy is still in diapers, and I am dreaming of the days he can hunt with me! Thanks for fueling my dreams even more!

And big congrats on those first birds!! :-D

What? Are you and your son peeing over the same stump...Where is the boat?

Congrats to him on his birds!

Regards,

Kristan

I was about 35 when I shot my first Canvasback, It is great to see someone getting a head start!

What a special day it must have been.
Be glad to have that young man as your hunting buddy,
because he will be glad to get out there with you.

Congratulations to you and your son. I bet that for years to come he will show his friends his can mount and be proud for bagging one at an early age.

I'm pretty sure we saw you guys today coming in on the eastern bypass. We were headed out and I'm guessing you guys were coming in. Been having any luck?
