South Dakota Hunting

My granddad and I got drawn to hunt in South Dakota this year and he has not hunted there in over 20 years and has not lived there for 40 years we are planning on hunting on the Missouri river just north of chamberlain and i was wondering if anyone had advice not wanting any spots to hunt or anything like that just wondering if anyone has any tips on something that may help us kill a few more ducks. thanks to anyone that has input.
 
Pothole with water in them are filled with ducks. At least they were last weekend.

Small shelf ice this morning in MN and I bet SD isn't much better. If it stays cold, the potholes could freeze and you're back in the Missouri.
