Special belly shells

Developed and loaded up some new special (speck) belly shells for a friend of mines trip to Arkansas at the end of this month.

Did a steel/tss duplex.

50/50 split for a total of 1 oz payload.

7's/BB's

Average fps on a 20 shot test string is 1532 fps. Pressure test showed 8100 average psi.

Patterned really well at 40 yards with a al390 12 gauge and a Carlson's IC extended non ported choke.

Need to dig out the pattern paper and get some pics of it.

My friend that went on the guided speck trip. Two days worth of limits.

Said the guides and some of the clients, wanted to buy the shells from him or pay him for the load recipe.

He said inside 55 yards with the Carlson's extended non ported LM sporting clay chokes and his Beretta 390. They were dish rag dead every time the gun went off.

Load was 1 oz duplex. 1/2 oz of number 7's tss and 1/2 oz off BB steel shot.

Decided to call this load the "speck hammer"

Going to do pattern testing on new load this weekend. 1/2 of tss and 3/4 oz of steel shot. If it patterns good. Think I will call that load "spoon hammer" 😂 😂 😂

A 1/2 oz of TSS #8's will smash big Canada geese out to 40 yards. Probably farther but the birds were inside of 40. The steel shot is really just a filler, the TSS is what does the killing.

Yes I know lol.

He wanted 7's and BB's. I tried my best to convince him. 2's and 8's would be great for the special bellies as well as ducks.

Me I prefer either 3/4 or 1 oz of 8's straight. Doing around 1650fps muzzle speed. It's a magical load.
