Di and I spent the afternoon at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary with Natalie and Madison Rose McDonald. There is nothing like the Grandkids to let you know what is really important in this life. I wish that all of you could have joined us......the Mallards are in incredible color right now. If you are ever in the area give me a call and I will give you the guided tour.

Looks like y'all had a great time. Don't think I didnt see those neck collars and bands ;) ... lol. I know this is going to sound stupid. But, what is the deal with the fenced in area?

Willy,

Yep, grand kids are special. The nicest thing about about them is our freedom to "spoil and run". After which, sending them back to their parents can be sweet revenge.

Hey Steve......most of those birds are locals that never leave the area. If there is food and water there's no reason to leave.

Gary, the fence is to keep the public away from the waters edge so that the birds have buffer safety zone away from the public. We do get a lot of visiting waterfowl on Wintergreen lake and they are not so sure about being close to people.

Kellogg bird Sancturay is a real neat place to visit and the perfect place to hold the Duck Blind classes.

Do you mean to tell me that "local" birds can have that full plummage and the bright feet?

You mean that when I see a bird like that its NOT a "NORTHERN"?

Say it ain't so......

Steve

Well I didn't have the chance to check ID's or passports but I do know that flock is around most of the year.........and spring is right around the corner. We'll see ringers returning north on the way to Westlake. Whoooopeeeeee!

Willy

one of those things that leaves people that haven't followed it over time scratch their heads over......

Great pictures regardless of their "passports"....

Steve
