Hey folks,

I have a Stealth2000 that I need to "motor up" and cannot figure out the best way to go. I've thought about a shortshaft 3hp or a Rickshaw 1.5hp which is a baby mudbuddy type thing. Any
body have any experience on this?

Hey Ed, thanks for the info. . . very interesting. I'm thinking about it. BUT, if I put that much money into building up the 2000, I could pick up something bigger and faster for about the same thing. Do you hunt out of the 2000?

Nope....I hunt out of aluminum on the Mississippi river about 8 hours north of you.

Take care,

Ed L.

I hunt out of the stealth. It makes a great shooting platform. It is nearly indistructable and gives a lot of bang for the buck.

I hunted out of a 1200 for a number of years. I had a Honda 2hp 4 stroke mounted with the traditional motor mount. It was all the motor I would want. I went to the mudd motor site above, I would have to see one in action to decide. The Honda was great, centrifugal clutch, twist the throttle and it want into gear. The only negative to the side mount is when you let off the gas it pulled to that side but you get uesed to that. The Honda also had 360 degree steering.

I had the same set up with a 1200 and a 2hp Honda. Great hunting platform, I know I overloaded it several times. Me 260ish, hunting buddy also 260ish and a 4x8 platform made of all 2x4's + wood for legs for the blind and some tools. This load was a bit unstable when we moved around a lot, and we wern't going far up a calm river, however it gave me a good feeling about what I really put into it durring the season. It aslo could have been more stable if we loaded the wood instead of building the platform first and letting it hang out over the sides. My partner was sitting on the top of that. The 1200 is a work horse that I can't ever see parting with. While I have a larger boat that sees more action, the 1200 will always see the marsh each year.

I have a friend who knows a guy that has a cousin who USED to own a Stealth.

HE put a 47lb thrust MotorGuide on the Stealth motormount and it moved verrry slowly.

Lots of bottom area surface (drag) touching the water what with the pontoon shape, the 80lb battery and a lardass in the back steering.

But HE said HE really like the stability of the boat and the fact that you could carry it around in a pickup and one guy could manhandle it around.

Well guys, I keep getting too much positive not to give it a good try next season. If I keep it close to stock and not put too much money into it. Me and my dog weigh w/gear about 350 - should be fine and great to hunt out of. I wish the rear seat was selectable in position like the front seat.
