steel shot reloading

Has anyone tried it and had success. Do you save any money? Any info would help as far as what to buy to reload.

There use to be a website that was for reloading steel: hullreloading.com. I'm not sure if it is still active or not. Many were reloading low weight. high velocity loads. There was a book, Lightning Steel, with a number of loads that people were very happy with. I know you can get it from Precision Reloading.

Besides being cost effective they were getting better loads.

Contact Ballistic Products, they are my go to guys. I have loaded steel, bismuth and Hevi Shot with good results from all of them. There are a couple other outfits that deal in non toxic reloading but this is where I go.

I've been reloading for 2 seasons now and love it. It takes a little longer to load over lead, just because I weigh everything and load by hand. I use the press for the primers, the wads, and crimping, and that's it.

I went with a recipe from Alliant Powder's website and buy everything from Precision Reloading. I load 1-1/8oz. of #2 plated steel with 35gr. of Alliant Steel powder. It's around 1,450fps I think. They've been working great so far!

As for the money, I'm not sure if it's a whole lot cheaper, but it's a lot more fulfilling!

bucks run has good deals and lots of supplies if he has extra left over or if the price is going to jump he will call and see if you need any and at the lower price
