Hey Steve,

I was wondering... I read an old post that you bought your bbsb as a kit. Can you give me any info about your boat, the maker, size (maybe cost in a pm) etc. I tried to send you an email a few days back, maybe it went to spam or maybe you said oh no not him again...hahaha Aren't you a graduate of Clearlake middle school in Cocoa Fl? I think we have talked about this a long time ago.. and my mother was your teacher? She was a Spanish and English teacher at Clearlake for 20 years.

Thanks Ed Auman

not sure where it went...maybe into your spam program? Unfortunatley I deleted my sent file yesterday so can't recover it....

My original Barnegats were the Classic Barnegat boats, in kit form.....that company is now owned by Kirk Sherbine and you can see them on his website http://www.classicbarnegat.com/ . I had some "quality issues" with my boats that I know to have been resolved by the new owners.....If memory serves the new company no longer offeres the boats in "kit" form but I could be wrong on that....

I did go to Clear Lake Middle School, didn't take Spanish but since your Mom taught English as well then I might have had her....tell her for me that "I'm sorry".....not sure for what but I'm sure she deserves to be told that...

If you have any additional specific questions use the private message option here as that won't get "grabbed" by whatever got my original response...

Steve

Ed-

As Steve said, we no longer offer our boats in the kit form at this time. On top of the quality issues that Dave Enos and I corrected, we also found that the original Classic Barnegats weren't Coast Guard approved due to the lack of foam flotation. When we corrected this problem we had to install 2 fiberglass "pods" for the flotation. These need put in after the boat is assembled and need some fairly advanced fiberglassing skills to do it. This makes the kit too hard for the average do-it-yourselfer. Also, with our new production methods, we found that we have almost as much labor and cost in the kit as we did in the finished boat.

We know there is a pretty big demand for the kit though, and have been talking of ways to make the "flotation pods" easier for the DIY guy to put in. That may be a while in the future though.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Take care and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hi Bill,
Oh ok teasing me now huh...Great looking rig! I remember when you started lofting the lines for that baby... Looks sweet. I love the picture with the brant on the back deck of the bbsb. Those brant are very nice also. I read that your going to Tuckerton to do a shoot? Good luck Sir!! Bill how much does your boat weight without the sailing rig, have an idea? You did a beautiful job with that boat.

I was looking at building a Glen l sneakbox, thought it was a light boat, thats what is drawing me to it. I want to be able to put it in the back of the truck for those out of the way places I dont want to pull a trailer to. I'm getting old you know, dragging a boat across the marsh is getting harder and harder all the time.

Kirk,
Thanks for the responce. If I had the $funds$ I buy your bbsb right this second. I love that its fiberglass ( will not rot) and light in weight. I should have bought one last year at Christmas time instead of a new snowmobile for the kids...hehehe Kirk I worked for Sea Ray Yaughts in Florida a long time ago running a chop gun... not a fun job. Couple of years of that and I had to move on.... And my brother in law started Natural Art Surfboards when I was in high school and I used to get my fill of the factory... Wet sanding, and polishing the boards after they had finished the glass work. So I do know a little about glass work, but I'll take your word about the pods... So many wants. so little money... damn whats a guy to do.. Got to have goals I guess.. I'll get out of my canoe and into one of your "Classic" someday Kirk.. :)

Thank you guys!
