Stitch-n-glue Hummer

Has anybody here tried to make a Kara Hummer--or "hummer" style boat--using the stitch-n-glue method?

Rick

I have also considered a stitch and glue Hummer type boat that could be powered by a very small motor or push pole. Have not been able to find any plans. Devlin has a small boat to be rowed or poled but I like the dimensions of the Hummer better.

Hopefully, someone will chime in with some ideas.

Hey Steve maybe a BBSB would fit the bill if I could figure out what one truly is.

Rick, Did you look over my Poleboat last year? That is what I built because the Hummer was tooo heavy in my humble opinion. Came in about 85 # and paddles and motors just great. If someone does build a ultralight Hummer I'm all ears. Any other ? I'm right here. Good Luck

Tom,

Yes, I did see your Poleboat, but I thought it was just as heavy or heavier than the hummer. Actually, I thought it was probably more than 85#. Isn't that the boat you wrenched your back with trying to get it on top of the pickup?

Tom, I would love to see some pictures of the boat. If you could please send me some per your post.

Thanks very much.

Rick, That is the one that did in my back but I wouldn't even try to put a Kara up top. I have weighed it on my "big buck" scale and that is what it weighs. I still am interested in a light weight kara because of the cost, I'm sure it could come in a lot cheaper than my Poleboat.
John, I will try to post some if I can get my pics down to a postable size, haven't done that for a while and need to get used to the photobucket because there are a lot of pics that I would like to get on here. I do love my poleboat though and spent most of this fall in it and not my Broadbill. Just worked out that way this year.

Hi Tom
I too would like to see some more pictures of your Poleboat (I have seen the ones from the "get together" in Wisconsin). I am considering building this one.

Thanks
Kip

Kip, If you get to the cities give me a call I would be happy to show it off. It would be a very good boat for your neck of the woods. I am going to try to get some pics up.

Photobucket is super easy. Assuming you already have an account, you can have it automatically reduce your pictures when Uploading. On your album page, there is a box that says 'upload images and video', at the bottom of that box, there is a drop down menu 'Reduce to:' I like the large size, medium is alright and quicker when people load your posts. then choose upload image, select the location and file on your computer. If you want to do more than one file at a time, hold your Ctrl key and click on more images.

Or, you can upload without reducing, then click on edit above your photo in the album. you can then Crop or do other editing on line, then reduce the overall size.

Once you want to post, have photo bucket open in another tab or window, and the DHBP open as well. highlight and copy the IMG code for the photo (there are 4 lines below the photo, giving different addresses for different used, the IMG is for forums) Then goto the DHBP and paste that code into your post. You can post multiple images by going back to photobucket and copying this code of another image and pasting again. Make sure to hit the enter key a time or two between codes, otherwise you wind up with a post that is 5 screens wide.

Let me konw if you can't get it or have additional questions,

Chuck
