Success rates in different types of weather?

I found myself yesterday headed out in the rain/snow and strong WNW wind, only to find myself with one bird that actually worked in. I only saw a few other small groups of birds... Nothing really wanted to come in. That may be these particular birds are well educated, etc, but I've noticed that over the years of hunting:

I never seem to have very good success in "ducky" (rain, snow, etc) weather - Do you have any tips for building success on these days? I seem to do much better on slight overcast or sunny days with moderate winds. I hunt pretty much no matter what the weather is, pretty much only stay in for strong lightning on open water.

I know there have been other threads on this subject, but we are here to talk about DR stuff after all.

Bright clear cold days with a stiff north wind have always been my best days.
To me, steady rain has never been good, both for the hunting or my comfort. I wait until after the front passes & the rain ends.

Today would have been a good one up in our area Paul. Strong northern wind, rain was gone, overcast.

I have found that after a front has moved through hunting is good. I like overcast days because the ducks fly later in the morning (darker longer) and they fly lower. I also love to hunt in the snow. I seem to do OK in snow but this could be that other hunters stay home and don't mess up my shooting.

Others observations may vary.

I've always done best with an angry North to Northwest wind, regardless of precipitation. Emphasis on "ANGRY". Although I like a little sleet or snow. Just a little. My absolutely HATE hunting in a heavy rain, BUT, the few times I've been caught in it, I've done well.

All in all, I think the very best days are the days spent afield, especially with good company, regardless of the weather.

The biggest weather factor for me has been weather or not I decide to sleep in instead of hunt. That type of weather has reduced my chances to zero. :>) :>)

INteresting. Cold, clear, and wind seem to be best for everyone no exceptions for me. Steady precip has never produced for me.

Good to know. I will still always go out anyway....
